Robert Lopez (1960-), also known by his stage name El Vez, is a musician, political satirist, and Chicano activist. In the 1970s, he played guitar in the punk bands The Zeros and Catholic Discipline. He is often called "The Mexican Elvis" because his stage persona is similar to Presley's. He even competed on The Weakest Link in an episode featuring Elvis impersonators. Lopez has released a variety of albums and LPs and acted in movies and documentaries.

Shannon Dudley is a teacher, curator, musician, band director, and author. He earned his PhD from the University of California Berkeley and is currently a professor of Ethnomusicology at the University of Washington (UW). He teaches classes on topics such as music of Latin America and the Caribbean, American popular music, and comparative Musicianship and Analysis. He is the director of the UW steeland and performs his own steel pan music with several other local groups. Dudley, along with his wife Marisol Berríos-Miranda, is a director of the bilingual museum American Sabor: Latinos in US Popular Music. He has published a variety of articles and books about music and the Caribbean.
