      <p>Virginia-born William T. Templeton married Elizabeth Ramsay in 1830. They arrived in Oregon in 1847 with their eight children, settling near Brownsville in Linn County. Their son Joseph Holt Templeton, who married Emma Hudelson, was an artist and farmer. Robert Russell Templeton married Orpha Montgomery. James Ramsey Templeton had two wives, Martha (Ritchey) and Mary (Yantis). The Brownsville Templetons were active in the Presbyterian church. Descendant Leighton Templeton of Portland, who worked for the Red Cross during World War I, married Gail Cordingly. His brother, Raymond, died during the war.</p>

      <p>Collection of 67 black and white photographs of and relating to members of the Templeton family. The photographs date from approximately 1880-1959, and most have handwritten information on the back. Many of the images in the collection are studio portraits of family members. Also included are snapshots of family fishing and camping outings; a family car, including scenes after it was wrecked; the golden wedding anniversary of David and Lavina Templeton; Robert Templeton's lumberyard in Riceville, Iowa; the motorcycle club in Brownsville, Oregon; and a few images related to the Oregon Sales Co. Family members represented in the collection include Albert Marion Templeton, Joseph Holt Templeton, Charles R. Templeton, David Templeton, Lavina Templeton, James R. Templeton, Emma Templeton, Joseph Perry Templeton, Leighton Templeton, Raymond E. Templeton, Samuel Templeton, Clara Templeton, Walter Templeton, and William Templeton.</p>
