The Office of Multicultural Academic Success (OMAS) works under the University of Oregon's Division of Equality and Inclusion to administer academic and advocacy resources for self-identified students of color, LGBTQ+ students, and first-generation college students to establish a culturally supportive environment and empower equal opportunities throughout the university. Initially established in April of 1977 as The Council for Minority Success and later The Office of Multicultural Affairs, OMAS has since taken over the work of the original offices to provide a wider range of support and may now also be found on the University of Oregon campus as the Center for Multicultural Academic Success (CMAE). Among student-focused activities such as community events, networking opportunities, specialized academic tracks, political advocacy work, and grant support for minority programs, OMAS also undertook broader university policy initiatives to support affirmative action efforts and academic freedom laws.
