		  the University of Washington and surrounding area, circa 1915-1924</abstract></did><odd type="hist"><p>Between 1916 and 1924 the University of Washington was still
		  recovering from the effects of World War I. As male students returned to school
		  from the battlefields, the University found its student population stretched to
		  the breaking point. At the same time, the University suffered from a severe
		  lack of funds. Teacher salaries were prohibitively low and President Suzzallo
		  found himself battling with the state government for the money to build badly
		  needed extensions to the University.</p></odd><scopecontent encodinganalog="5202_" id="a3"><p>The collection is comprised of one album containing 41 photographs.
		  There are several aerial and landscape photographs of the University of
		  Washington campus, Lake Washington, and surrounding area. The album also
		  includes photographs of Campus Day, sporting events, the football team, the
		  crew team, and a number of buildings left over from the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific
		  Exposition. Many of the photographs were taken by L.G. Linkletter and Webster
