         <abstract encodinganalog="5203_">Dorothy Robinson Mann graduated from University of Oregon
            Medical School Department of Nursing in 1942 and served in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps
            until 1945. This collection contains photographs taken during Mann's service which
            provide insight into the life and training of a nurse at that time, as well as a
            selection of Army records and additional papers.</abstract>

         <p>This collection contains photographs taken in the United States and Europe during Mann's
            service in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps, which provide insight into the life and training
            of a nurse at that time. The collection also contains a selection of Mann's Army
            records, including a detailed inventory of clothing and equipment issued to her, as well
            as documentation of her service, illness, and eventual retirement. Drafts of Mann's
            undergraduate paper: "Cambarincola Gracilis Sp. Nov., A Branchiobellid Oligochaete
            Commensal on Western Crayfishes", are included along with her notes and figure
            drawings.</p>

         <p>Dorothy Robinson Mann graduated from the University of Oregon Medical School Department
            of Nursing in June of 1942. She went on to serve in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps, where she
            worked in the 46th General Hospital. She was hospitalized with tuberculosis in late 1944
            and retired from the Nurse Corps in 1945. In 1953, Mann graduated with a Bachelor's
            Degree in Biology from Lewis &amp; Clark College. She passed away on August 21,
            2011.</p>
