      <head>Biography of Perry Jenkins</head>

<p>Perry Jenkins was a college professor of astronomy. After being advised by physicians that he had only months to live in 1905, Jenkins relocated to Wyoming and eventually regained his health as a ranch hand and ultimately as an independent rancher. He operated a ranch in Cora, Wyoming. Jenkins served on the Wyoming Legislature for a decade before becoming Senate president in 1927. Additionally, he served on the executive committee of the American National Livestock Association and founded its magazine called The Producer. Jenkins also founded and named Sublette County in Wyoming and was a member of both Masonic lodges in Pinedale and Big Piney. Jenkins had a scholarly interest in and studied the southwestern corner of Wyoming. Towards the end of his life, Jenkins was awarded a Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Wyoming.</p>

<head>Statement on Potentially Harmful Language and Images Found in Collections</head>

<p>The American Heritage Center aspires to approach all areas of our work in ways that are

respectful to those who create, use, and are represented in our collections. For a variety of

reasons, however, users may encounter offensive or harmful language or images in some of our

finding aids, catalogs, and collection materials.</p>

<p>Note that the AHC does not censor or alter contents of the collections as they provide context and evidence of a time, people, place, or event.

Therefore, we encourage users to bring questions and concerns about descriptions in our finding aids to our attention via <extref href="mailto:sara.davis@uwyo.edu,bblasi@uwyo.edu">email</extref> or <extref href="https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd7UKY6227Uluu6mYZv-63VA_hQSNd7kgRhsaLC-UD2NOB9cg/viewform">anonymous web-form</extref>.
