and politician that served as the director of the University of Washington
Fiscal Policy CenterJames McIntire (1953-2024) received his MA. and PhD in economics from
the University of Washington (1982, 1993). He previously earned an M.P.P. in
public policy from University of Michigan in 1978, and a B.A. in urban and
regional affairs from Macalester College in 1976. He had a research faculty
appointment at the University of Washington School of Public Policy and
Governance 1982-2008, and also served as director of the UW Fiscal Policy
Center, 1994-1998. McIntire also served as a state representative in the
Washington State House of Representatives for the 46th Legislative District,
and as Washington State Treasurer 2009-2017.
