Biography of Robert C. Milliken

Robert Carl Milliken was born in Hanna, Wyoming on June 6, 1922. He graduated from high school in Hanna in June 1940 and attended the University of Wyoming. After completing the Civilian Pilot Training course at the University in June 1942, Milliken enlisted in the Army Air Corp. He was assigned to the Ninth Air Force and then the 474th Fighter Group on April 25, 1944. Milliken completed 70 missions and received numerous decorations and citations as a fighter pilot during World War II. He flew the P-38 in the Air Offensive on Europe, Normandy, Northern France, Southern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe. He was discharged from service on December 13, 1945 and returned to Laramie, Wyoming where he was part of building the Laramie Airpark, obtained his flight instructor rating, and operated the Frontier Aviation Company until he sold his interest in the 1950s. He obtained his business degree in 1952 and has managed, owned, and operated various businesses in Montana, Florida, and Wyoming, including Milliken Enterprises Inc.
