Historical Note
The Whitworth College Chapel Hour was established by President Frank
Furness Warren in 1943 as a public service and as a tool for the promotion of
Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington. It lasted continuously up to 1973
when it was temporarily suspended. At that time, Dr. David E. Dilworth,
chairman of the college's religion department, was serving as its host and
Bible teacher.
The file consists of audio tape cassettes copied from reel-to-reel
tapes. After a few tapes of music used as background for the Bible talks
(cassettes 1a-1, 2, 3 and 4), cassettes 5 through 8 feature talks by Dr. Warren
(who died in December of 1963). The remaining cassettes present Chapel Hour
programs from May 16, 1971 through January 28, 1973 when they were temporarily
suspended. These were hosted by Dr. Dilworth.
