The Reverend Paul Jones papers (1898-1942) consist primarily of correspondence, diaries, periodicals, and news clippings from Reverend Paul Jones' life as a socialist, pacifist, and bishop in the Episcopal Church. Jones served as Episcopal Bishop of Utah from 1916 to 1918, and spent the remainder of his life doing missionary work across the eastern United States and assistant teaching at Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio. Jones died of multiple myeloma in 1941 at the age of 60.

Reverend Paul Jones (1880-1941) was the Episcopal Bishop of Utah from 1916 to 1918. Jones graduated from the Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 1906. Jones was ordained an archdeacon in 1913 and was chosen to succeed Bishop Franklin Spencer Spalding after his death in 1914. Jones' outspoken opposition the World War I led him to be brought before a special committee of the House of Bishops to determine whether or not he should keep his post. Jones resigned effective April 11, 1918. After that, he worked as a missionary in Brownville Junction, Maine. In 1921, Jones helped the Fellowship of Reconciliation become international in 1919, and worked as the secretary for a decade. In 1929, Reverend Paul Jones became chaplain and assistant professor of religion at Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio, where he passed away in 1941 at the age of 60.

The Reverend Paul Jones papers (1898-1942) consist primarily of correspondence, diaries, periodicals, and news clippings from Reverend Paul Jones' life as a missionary, teacher, socialist, pacifist, and bishop in the Episcopal Church. Jones' diaries consist of short descriptions of daily activities including social visits, errands, services preached, marriages performed, meetings attended, and places traveled. Also included are prices of certain purchases Jones made, as well as sums of collection money from certain church services.
