        German-English language controversies; lists of pastors (1890-1911); baptisms (1891-1917);
        marriage records (1892-1918); and obituaries (1905-1918).</abstract>

      <head>Historical Note</head>
      <p>The First Evangelical Church in Spokane was organized in March 1887 by Rev. Herman
        Schuknecht, presiding elder and district supervisor for the German Evangelical Church. The
        organization was later merged to become the Manito Evangelical United Brethren Church.</p>
