			<p>A legislative enactment of 1890 founded Washington State University, originally
				called Washington Agricultural College and School of Science. Actual operation began
				in January 1892. The enabling act normally is used to date university events, and
				accordingly the 100th anniversary was observed in 1990. </p>
			<p> </p>
			<p>A system of several committees had responsibility for the University centennial,
				while the Office of University Relations served as staff and coordinators. The
				principal coordinators, Dan Peterson and Sonia Hussa, maintained the records of the
				centennial activities and projects.</p>

			<p>This collection contains materials from 1945-2003 relating to the development of
				WSU's Spokane, Tri-cities, and Vancouver campuses along with the public outreach
				efforts from WSU. Box 1 contains an issue of the Washington State Alumni Powwow
				v.34, meeting reports, advertisements, development plans for other campuses, and
				news publications about WSU. </p>
