The Tacoma Community house began with the goal of providing a gathering space for children in Tacoma, and the organization offered programs, including a baby clinic, the first kindergarten classes in Tacoma, and English classes for recent immigrants. The

            <p>The Tacoma Community House was established in 1907 by the Home Missionary Board of the Methodist Church. The Tacoma Community house began with the goal of providing a gathering space for children in Tacoma, and the organization offered programs, including a baby clinic, the first kindergarten classes in Tacoma, and English classes for recent immigrants. The organization was also the first to hire an African American teacher in Tacoma.</p>
