      <p>Collection consists of 17 black and white photographs of Vanport, Oregon, before and after the flood of 1948. The photographs belonged to Dale Skovgaard and include images of Skovgaard and his family, who lived in Vanport at the time of the flood. Scenes from before the flood include apartment buildings, a gas station, and the Number 1 Shopping Center. Scenes from during and after the flood include damaged buildings, a rescue effort, fleeing cars and pedestrians, and members of the Skovgaard family looking through their belongings for salvageable items. People identified include Dale Skovgaard; his parents, Herman Skovgaard and Agnes Skovgaard; his sister, Delores Skovgaard; and Donnie Dill.</p>
