         <abstract encodinganalog="5203_">Ethel Romig Fuller (1883-1965) was poetry editor of The Oregonian newspaper and in 1957 she was appointed Poet Laureate of Oregon by Governor Robert D. Holmes. The collection contains poetry manuscripts, correspondence, scrapbooks and photographs.</abstract>

         <p>Collection is open to the public. Collection must be used in Special Collections and University Archives Reading Room. Collection or parts of collection may be stored offsite. Access to these materials is governed by repository policy and may require the production of listening or viewing copies.          <p>Ethel Romig Fuller (1883-1965) was born in Big Rapids, Michigan and attended Ypsilanti Normal school. Romig began writing in the early 1920s. For many years she was poetry editor of the Portland Oregonian newspaper. In 1957 she was appointed Poet Laureate of Oregon by Governor Robert D. Holmes.</p>

         <p>The collection contains poetry manuscripts, correspondence, scrapbooks and photographs. </p>
         <p>The correspondence is organized alphabetically by name or title, 1947-1965.</p>
         <p>The poetry manuscripts include drafts, revisions, sheet music, and contracts and many are filed by date while others are filed alphabetically by title. Also included are recordings of Fuller's poetry on 78 rpm records. </p>
         <p>The scrapbooks include poem and newspaper clippings, reviews, letters from editors, programs and correspondence, 1924-1965.</p>
         <p>The photographs include pictures of Fuller as a youth, her family, and wildlife photographs. </p>
