			<p>John Francis Pratt (1848-1929) was an officer of the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey,
				1871-1920, who engaged in surveys of Puget Sound, Admiralty Inlet, the Straits of
				Juan de Fuca, and the Alaskan boundary; gave field service in the Hawaiian Islands,
				1904-1905, California, 1906-1907, and the Philippine Islands, 1908-1911; and
				commanded the Carnegie Institute survey ship Galilee in 1905.</p>

			<p>Collections consists largely of photographs of Alaska, probably related to Pratt's
				work for the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey. Also includes photographs of the
