		<p>Donna Gerstenberger was a University of Washington Professor of
		  English from 1960 to 1994, serving as the Department Chair from 1976 to 1982.
		  She was the first woman in the Department of English to be promoted to Full
		  Professor, teaching courses on women and literature. She also served as the
		  Chair of the Faculty Senate and Associate Dean of Arts and Sciences. Beyond her
		  academic career, Gerstenberger co-founded and was the first editor for 
		  <emph render="italic"> The Seattle Review </emph>.</p>
