Fort Hoskins was established in 1856 on the Luckiamute River in Benton County, Oregon to protect and monitor the new coastal Indian reservation.

The collection includes post orders, letters books, and records of the proceedings of the Councils of Administration.

The post orders are arranged chronologically in one volume dating 1856-1865.

The letter books include transcribed letters chronologically arranged dating from 1860-1865.

The proceedings of the Councils of administrations are also dated 1856-1865.
