			<p>Edward Kimmel was raised in Waitsburg, Washington and went to the Waitsburg Academy.
				He travelled to Pullman in a covered wagon to join the first graduating class of the
				Washington State Agricultural College and School of Science (later the State College
				of Washington, now Washington State University). While at WSC, he was a member of
				the College's first football team. After graduating in 1897, Kimmel became the first
				president of the WSC Alumni Association. He married Florence Eleanore Snyder, WSC
				class of 1898. Kimmel served as a Colonel, in the U.S. Army during the
				Spanish-American War. At some point he became a WSC faculty member.</p>
