<p>Eugene Ervin Marsh was born in 1900 in Decorah, Iowa, and came to Oregon with his family at age 18. He attended the University of Oregon before transferring to the University of Washington, where he earned a law degree. After a year in Redmond, Oregon, he moved to McMinnville, Oregon, where he served as city attorney from 1931 to 1973. He was first elected to the Oregon House of Representatives as a Republican in 1939, and served as speaker in 1945. In 1946, he advanced to the state Senate, where he was president for the 1953-1954 session. After his term as state Senate president, Marsh retired from politics.
