Leo Spitz (1888-1956) was a motion picture executive. He attended the University of Chicago where he studied law. He became a practicing lawyer in 1930 for Spitz and Rooks before establishing his own firm, Spitz and Adcock. His association with the entertainment industry began as representation for the Balaban and Katz theater. In 1932, Spitz became an executive at Paramount Pictures and went on to serve as president of RKO Radio Pictures between 1935 and 1938. Thereafter, he returned to Chicago to practice law for a short time but found himself back in Hollywood in 1942 where he and William Goetz founded International Pictures.
Collection contains autographed, leather bound motion picture scripts and stills for Along Came Jones (1945), The Dark Mirror (1946), The Egg and I (1946), It’s a Pleasure (1945), The Stranger (1945), Temptation (1946), and Tomorrow is Forever (1945).
There are no access restrictions on the materials for research purposes, and the collection is open to the public.
