Lisa Matthewson's linguistic research focuses on cross-linguistic variations in semantics and pragmatics related to Universal Grammar, with a specific focus on indigenous languages of the Pacific Northwest. Matthewson studied at Victoria University of Wellington for both her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees. She received her Ph.D. in 1996 from the University of British Columbia, where she is also a Professor and Distinguished University Scholar.

Two CDs containing audio and written files of research conducted by Lisa Matthewson on the Gitksan and Okanagan languages. The files include elicitations, storyboards, and stories from both languages.

Forms part of the Jacobs Research Funds linguistic research collection.
