Labert St. Clair (1887-1949) was a journalist who began his career as a reporter for the Danville, Illinois Democrat. He joined the Associated Press in Chicago and, later, headed the bureau in Albany, New York. From 1909 to 1917 he served as head of the House of Representatives staff of the Associated Press. St. Clair was also a syndicated columnist and author.
Collection contains manuscripts of articles on politics, poetry, taxation, sports, advertising, and other subjects; newspaper column articles from “Folks and Things Around Washington”; a notebook containing reprints of articles under St. Clair’s pen name, Seth Dunham from Nations Business and National Safety News; a scrapbook containing biographical information, American Electric Railway Association newspaper clippings, and other clippings; books by St. Clair titled Juggling the Heavyweights, I’ve Met the Folks You’ve Read About, and Transportation, Land, Air, Water; and photographs.
There are no access restrictions on the materials for research purposes, and the collection is open to the public.
