Biographical Note
The National Bank of Montana was organized in January 1901 by officers of the Montana National Bank, as a successor to that bank. Among the original officers were Thomas A. Marlow, president; Albert L. Smith, vice president; and T. C. Kurtz, cashier. Most of the directors were the same as those of the Montana National Bank. The team of Marlow and Smith continued to head the bank until it consolidated on May 1, 1931, with the American National Bank and the Montana Trust and Savings Bank to form the new First National Bank and Trust Company.
