         <p>Solomon Tetherow (1800-1879) was a wagonmaster of an expedition to Oregon.  After arriving, he settled in Dallas, Oregon, where he and his wife, Elizabeth Baker Teherow, raised 15 children.</p>  
      </bioghist>

         <p>Collection consists of a transcription, photostatic copy, and photo negative of Solomon Tetherow's journal of the Oregon Emigrating Society of 1845. The journal describes Tetherow's difficult experiences as captain of one group of wagon trains being guided by Stephen Meek.  Meek infamously led nearly two hundred families off the road near Fort Boise on a "short cut" that led to "all sorts of grief".</p>
