The State Bank of Dillon was incorporated on June 14, 1899, by a group of investors in Dillon, Montana. The group of investors, who all had equal shares of stock in the company when it was incorporated, became the Board of Directors. During their first meeting in July, 1899, they discussed the bank's by-laws, director's duties, president and vice preseident's responsibilities, and the cashier's job. They also discussed the conveyance of real estates, business of the bank, stocks, certificates, and the role of the state auditor, who was in attendance during the metting and ratified the by-laws. The Board of Directors conducted monthly meetings henceforth.
A yearly stockholders' meeting, which began in January, 1900 wht the opening of the bank. During their meetings general bank business was discussed as welll as profits and losses of the bank. The yearly meeting was held in January of each year.
The collection includes the meeting minutes from both the yearly stockholders' meeting and the montly Board of Directors' meetings from 1899-1939.

The collection came to the archives on loan from the State Bank of Dillion to be microfilmed in 1989. The original documents were returned to the bank.

The actions of the original porecessor are unknown. The 1998 processor left the collection intact, but produced a more detailed finding aid.

This series contains montly meeting minutes from the Board of Directors and yearly minutes from the stockholders' meeting. the stockholders' meeting discussed general bank business including an annual report of bank resources and liabilities, profits and losses, and to whom credit was given and the amount. An annual bank expence account was also told to the stockholders, including general bank expenses and salaries. The Board of Directors' meeting discussed all the above topics, but on a monthly basis.
