         <p>Ray Hogan (1908- ) is an author specializing in western fiction.  Hogan was born in Willow Springs, Missouri.  He was educated in Albuquerque, New Mexico and in Fort Wayne, Indiana at the Indiana Journalism Institute.  Hogan's first published article appeared in the New Mexico Conversationist.  He has been published in sports magazines, western pulps, trade journals, and newspapers, sometimes under the pseudonym Clay Ringold.  Hogan has published numerous volumes of western fiction.</p>

         <p>The collection consists of correspondence and manuscripts for many of Hogan's novels and stories.  </p>
         <p>There are two small sections of correspondence.  The first consists of one outgoing letter and six incoming letters dating from 1964-1967.  The second section dates from 1975-1976, and also contains outgoing and incoming letters.</p>
         <p>Hogans manuscripts are arranged by novel.  Materials may include carbons, drafts, chapter and book synopses, and miscellaneous notes.  Manuscripts for the following novels are included in the collection: Texas Lawman, The Wolver, Deputy of Violence, The Outlawed, The Rimrocker, Three Cross, A Bullet for Mr. Texas, A Gun for Silver Rose, Day of the Hangman, High Green Gun, High Roller's Man, Lawman for Slaughter Valley, Omaha Crossing, Passage to Dodge City, Skull Gold, The Regulator, The Devil's Gunhand, The Doomsday Posse, The Hell Merchant, The Jenner Guns, The Scorpion Killers, The Shotgun Rider, The Texas Brigade, The Tombstone Trail, The Yesterday Rider, Hooker's Rawhiders, Doomsday Marshall and the Hanging Judge, Rogue's Empire, Wyoming Drifter, Apache Mountain Justice, Solitude's Lawman, and Guns Along the Mora.</p>
