Edith Jones from Malad, ID was elected to the ASUI studentbody as vice president in 1943. She later became president when the president graduated. Jones was the first woman to hold that position at the U of I. She was a resident of Hays Halls and served on several campus committees. The UI alumna earned a B.S. in business administration, and earned many awards including Key Award for Outstanding Woman in the School of Business. She was also a member of Cardinal Key and the Mortar Board honor societies. --taken from a letter written by her daughter, Gem of the Mountains annuals, and Argonauts.
