The creation of the Washington State University Veteran’s Memorial was organized by James Quann, then University Registrar, who became the chairman of the memorial committee. The lists of names incorporated on the memorial were created with the help of Archives 121, War Records, and student admission cards were utilized to confirm enrollment of veterans from Vietnam and the Gulf War. Preliminary lists were published in the WSU alumni newsletter, Hilltopics, asking for readers to submit any names which may have been omitted. The memorial was eventually completed in 1993, and the work on this project inspired Quann to continue researching WSU veterans, resulting in his book, WSU Military Veterans: Heroes and Legends (Spokane: Tornado Creek Publications, 2005).<?xm-replace_text {Text of biographical or historical note, in paragraphs; separate each with paragraph tags}?>
