The Washington State University Libraries purchased this collection, which was part of the Jim Morris Estate, from Mike Penny in 1994 (MS.1994.33).
The collection includes digitized reproductions of some recordings (serenade songs) on compact discs.
Some of the recordings may not be playable, and special equipment may be required to access some material.
This collection is open and available for research use.
Reproductions of some of the recordings in this collection, as well as a description of the collection, are included in Qilloowawya = Hitting the rawhide : serenade songs from the Nez Perce musical archive (Seattle: Northwest Interpretive Association, 2001).
This collection contains music recordings from the Jim Morris estate. The collection primarily consists of recordings of Nez Perce music, but also contains recorded music connected to the Crow Nation, and miscellaneous reproductions of popular music. The recordings are in two audio tape formats: reel-to-reel (18 items) and 8-track (5 items). Digital copies of the recordings are included in the collection, on compact disc.
