      <p>J. Raymond Cope became minister for the First Unitarian Society of Salt Lake City in 1942. He received his A.B. degree from Franklin College in 1927 and his Ph.D. in philosophy from Ohio State University in 1936. He had previously been a Unitarian minister in Dayton, Ohio, and Roslindale, Massachusetts.</p>
