      <p>The American Brewing Company opened in Great Falls, Montana, in 1895.
		  It was known as the American Brewing and Malting Company for a portion of its
		  existence. It produced beer and malt for Great Falls and surrounding areas. It
		  discontinued operations in 1919 with the advent of Prohibition.</p>

      <p>The collection contains the financial records of the American Brewing
		  Company, including journals, ledgers, cash books, records of invoices, sales
		  books, day books, and two blank checkbooks. The records detail the amount of
		  brewed beer and malt shipped and sold, and products purchased by the company
		  for its production.</p>
