         <p>William Day Guernsey was born on May 22, 1878 in Dayton, Washington. He was the son of Dennis C. and Harriet Guernsey. He graduated from Dayton High School in 1896, and attended Whitman College from 1896 to 1900. He married Susan Boomhower on December 9, 1916. William Guernsey wrote autobiographical stories, owned a printing business, and worked for newspapers.</p>

         <p>The collection consists of correspondence, copies of "Frontier Times" and "Real West," short stories, Guernsey Printers ephemera, a brochure from Florida retirement community "Guernsey City," genealogy materials, and a history of Dayton written by niece Elizabeth Ankeny.</p>
