John W. Todd (1914-2007) was the owner and operator of Shorey's Bookstore in Seattle, WA. Todd bought the store in 1939 from Sam Shorey, his great uncle and the store's original owner who started the business in 1890. Under Todd's ownership, Shorey's Bookstore became renowned for being the oldest bookstore west of the Mississippi River and one of the world's largest antiquarian bookstores. Although the store endured several moves during its existence (at one time occupying a place at Pike's Place Market), Todd's family maintained control of Shorey's Bookstore until its closure in 2000. Todd also started his own publishing company called Shorey Publications in 1964.
