Herb Simon was born June 15, 1943 in Tacoma, Washington. His parents, Joe and Rebecca Simon, were both born in Lithuania.

1 CD with .wav file and 1 transcript from oral history conducted on October 22, 2013, with Nancy Blase. Herb Simon describes his childhood in Tacoma, Washington, and his family's involvement in the Jewish community there. Simon is active in a variety of civic and business pursuits, which he describes in the interview. He discusses at length his work in higher education, such as the establishment of the University of Washington Tacoma Campus, work on the Higher Education Commission, and the University of Washington Board of Regents. He also discusses his family and the value of family in his life.
