  		<p>Most of this collection centers around Archie Irwin (1882-1962) and his relatives. In the 1890s, his family moved to Elberton, Washington, where his father worked as a blacksmith. Archie Irwin remained in the Elberton area as an adult, and worked at a variety of jobs. He practiced amateur photography, documenting scenes, events, and people of Elberton during the first decade of the 20th century.<?xm-replace_text {Text of biographical or historical note, in paragraphs; separate each with paragraph tags}?></p>

It includes correspondence, a small amount of material related to a contested 1907 Elberton town election, minutes and other records of a fraternal organization, the Coming Men of America (Whitman Jr. Lodge 2018, Elberton), high school yearbooks, and a reminiscence about early 20th-century Elberton by Dora Wells Banning. Most of the correspondence consists of incoming letters to Archie Irwin.
