 Collection Summary O’Neal, Bill, 1942- Bill O’Neal papers 1975-1982 08361 1 cubic ft. (2 boxes) University of Wyoming. American Heritage Center. English Bill O’Neal was a prolific popular writer about the West and about baseball. His collection contains the manuscript to his book, Encyclopedia of Western Gunfighters and some other gunfighter manuscript material. It also contains some photocopies of the published books and articles, which came from his manuscripts. Biography of Bill O’Neal

Bill O’Neal was the author of over 25 books and hundreds of articles and book reviews related to the American West. He appeared in numerous TV documentaries on TBS, the History Channel, TNN, the Discovery Channel, and A&E. He was a member of the Western Writers of America, and he was presented with a NOLA Literary Award in 2003. He taught for over thirty years at Panola College in Carthage, Texas.

 Scope and Content

The Bill O’Neal papers contain manuscripts, correspondence, and photocopies of O’Neal’s books about outlaws of the old West.
