The Kibbie Dome (formerly the Kibbie-ASUI Activity Center, now the P1FCU Kibbie Dome) serves as the University of Idaho's football stadium and as a venue for other sports and community gatherings. U of I Vandals football was previously played on MacLean Field and in Neale Stadium and Idaho Stadium. After Neale Stadium was burned down in 1969, the university replaced it in 1971 with Idaho Stadium, a cement open-air venue that could accommodate the construction of a roof, provided the funds were available. Former student William H. Kibbie was among the primary sponsors of the roof addition, along with the students of the University of Idaho. In the spring of 1975, construction materials for the roof, including laminated sheets of wood from Trus-Joist to form its barrel shape, began arriving in Moscow, Idaho. Over the course of the spring and summer, workers installed the roof and made the stadium ready for use in the fall of 1975. The Vandals played their first game in the newly completed Kibbie Dome on September 27, 1975. The Kibbie Dome has remained the home of Vandals football and many other events for the past 50 years.
