		  editorial support from the University of Washington</abstract></did><bioghist encodinganalog="5451_" id="a2"><p><title linktype="simple">positions: asia critique</title>, formerly 
		<title render="italic" linktype="simple">positions: east asia cultures
		  critique</title> is published four times a year by Duke University Press. Tani
		Barlow continues as the founding senior editor of the journal. Previously a
		professor Women's Studies and History at the University of Washington, Barlow
		currently teaches Chinese history at Rice University. While housed at the
		University of Washington the journal received support from the Jackson School
		of International Studies, the Office of the Dean of Social Sciences, and the
		School of Humanities. A number of talented doctoral students from the English
		department staffed the journal over the years. 
		<title linktype="simple">positions</title> is the first post-Cold War
		journal to examine critically the histories and politics of Asia/Asian America.
		Over its existence positions has won five awards from the Council of Editors of
