History of Green River Valley Cattlemen's Association

The Green River Valley Cattlemen’s Association was organized in April 1954 and can trace its history back to 1905 through older organizations. Its main purpose was to promote and protect the interest of the cattle industry in the area and worked closely with the Wyoming Stock Growers Association and the American National Cattlemen’s Association. It held annual meetings and banquets and would frequently correspond with Wyoming politicians to promote the interests of its members, which numbered 101 in 1954 and 166 in 2000.

 Scope and Content

The records of the Green River Valley Cattlemen’s Association contains mainly meeting agendas and minutes, membership lists, correspondence, financial records, material relating to its annual banquets and programs, and promotional material relating to its interests. Correspondents include Wyoming politicians from the 1980s to 2010s, National Inholders Association, National Cattlemen’s Association, Wyoming Water Development Commission, and local ranchers.

There are no access restrictions on the materials for research purposes, and the collection is open to the public.
