Included are a few similar reports issued by the University of Idaho Research and Extension centers at Kimberly and Tetonia, and other agencies. This collection is in English.

The Bureau of Entomology and Plant Quarantine field station reports from seven northwest stations were accessioned in December 1989.

Additional materials were transferred to Special Collections in 2018.

This record group contains a combination of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports from Bureau of Entomology and Plant Quarantine field stations in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington spanning the years 1930 to 1976. Although a majority of the reports concern studies of pea insects such as the pea aphid and pea weevil, the Twin Falls reports also include studies of sugar beet insects. The material is arranged alphabetically by state in which the field station is located, and the reports of each station are in chronological order. Some reports are in bound volumes, others are in file folders. The reports from Kimberly and Tetonia originated as reports of the University of Idaho Research and Extension Centers.

The colllection is arranged in four series: Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and Other Reports. Both Series 1: Idaho and Series 2: Oregon have subseries. Series 1 subseries divide the materials based upon the research station which produced the materials. Series 2 subseries divide the contents between two pea weevil investigations.

Collection is open for use.

In 1894, the United States Federal Government created the Bureau of Entomology as a section of the Department of Agriculture to work on and investigate entomological and allied issues relating to insects. in 1934, the Bureau of Entomology merged with the Bureau of Plant Quarantine and in 1953 with the Bureau of Animal Industry creating the Agricultural Research Service. Work was done in various states at experiement stations, with State entomologists, and by several crop pest commissions.

Experiment stations in the State of Idaho are operated by the Univesity of Idaho, the state's land-grant institution, following the Hatch Act of 1892 and the Morrill Act of 1862. The two goals of this experimental station were to create "useful and practical information on subjects connected with Agriculture, and to promote scientific investigation and experiment respecting the principles and applications of agricultural science."
