      <bioghist encodinganalog="5450_" id="a2">
         <p>James A. Turner was a streetcar conductor in the Ballard and Fremont
		  neighborhoods of Seattle and often photographed people and sites along his
		  routes. Seattle began building their streetcar system in 1884, beginning with
		  downtown routes and soon expanding to other areas of the city. The streetcars
		  were slowly replaced by busses beginning around 1930, disappearing entirely
		  around 1940. James Turner married Kathryn Raymond on September 3, 1927.</p>
      </bioghist>

         <p>Photographs chiefly of the Turner family and other people, places, and
		  scenes in Seattle and Washington State.</p>
