      <bioghist encodinganalog="5450_">
    
         <p>Frank J. Parker was born in 1843 in Somersetshire, England. He immigrated to New York in his adolescence, and from there moved to several different cities on the west coast, including San Francisco, Washoe, Rio Grande, Las Cruces, and Santa Fe. He was a journalist for the Walla Walla Statesman newspaper from 1880 until 1900. In 1915 he married his second wife, Jeanette Parker.</p>
         <p>Jeanette Parker was born in May, 1870, in East Elma, New York. She moved to Walla Walla in 1906 with her husband, Myron Scranton, whom she married in 1981. In Walla Walla she managed dining facilities at the Dacres Hotel. She married Col. Frank J. Parker in 1915, and moved with him to California. She died in February, 1965.</p>

         <p>The Parker Family Collection consists of newspaper clippings and writings primarily about Colonel Frank J. Parker and his brother, Aaron, both Northwest pioneers with involvement in the Indian wars, newspaper publishing, and civic endeavors. Information about Company C, of the National Guard of Washington (also known as Company One) and their involvement in the Spanish-American War includes photographs, song books, newspaper clippings, reunion programs, lantern slides, and an album and scrapbook.</p>
