      <p>Scrapbook of student life during the years immediately before and following the school's name and mission change from Oregon Normal School to Oregon College of Education. The creator of the scrapbook is unknown. Scrapbook also recorded as S-15 in an earlier registry.</p>

    <scopecontent encodinganalog="5202_">
      <p>This collection contains one scrapbook related to student life and events at Oregon Normal School and Oregon College of Education. The unbound scrapbook is 16 x 11.50 x 3.5 inches with the caption "Scrapbook, 1938-1943" on the cover. The scrapbook contains numerous topics and formats, including photographs, newspaper clippings, posters, flyers, dance cards, programs, and correspondence. Newspaper clippings relate to the school name change in 1939, men’s athletics (basketball, football, tennis), and events hosted at the college. Printed photographs are intermixed in the scrapbook and include the Administration Building, President Ackerman, men’s athletics (basketball, football, and baseball teams), Christmas Cantana pageant, training school pageants, Todd Hall Dormitory interiors with female students, and singer Percy Grainger. Student clubs and groups represented in the scrapbook include: Crimson O Players, Associated Students of Oregon Normal School (ASONS), Girls League, Theta Delta Phi, Associated Students of Oregon College of Education (ASOCE), Dogpatch, Phi Beta Sigma, and Campfire Girls.</p>
      <p>Other topics that range throughout the years of the scrapbook include: dance cards, handbooks (Hello!, 1940-1942, Lamron 1941-1942, ONS, OCE), Play Day, Parents Weekend, Vesper Service, C.J. Hambro, puppetry class, committees (Committee on Religious Guidance, Faculty Social Club Committee), conferences (Polk County Music Festival, Educational Conference, Conference on Elementary Education), associations (Western Oregon Supervisors Association, Association Childhood Education); programs, flyers, and schedules (football, men’s basketball, theater, music, recitals, concerts, commencement).</p>
      <p>Other topics worth noting include one issue of the Monmouth Junior High newsletter Ink-Splasher and the OCE Alumni newsletter, Monmouth Training School and Independence Training School programs, Oregon Normal School Travel Studies in Geography and Geology, and school and fight songs with lyrics for basketball and cheers.</p>
