Charles Mosconi (1892-1975) was in a Vaudeville dancing duo with his brother, Louis, in New York. The brothers were taught how to dance by their father who ran a dance school in Philadelphia. They began performing in Philadelphia where they developed an act wherein Louis dressed as Charlie Chaplin and Charles as Edna Purviance. The act became so popular that, in 1918, the family moved to New York so that Charles and Louis could perform at the Palace Theatre on Broadway. The brothers’ final performance was sixteen years later in 1934.
Collection contains a newspaper clipping titled “The Mosconis Inherit Their Dancing Talent”; photographs of Charles and Willie Mosconi and Willie and Verna Mosconi, B. F. Keith’s Palace Theatre billboards featuring the Mosconi Brothers and the Palladium Theatre billboard featuring the Mosconi Family; posters; and other clippings.
