  	<head>Biography of Daniel E. Doody</head><p>Daniel E. Doody was the cinematographer on the 1963 American expedition to Mount Everest, which was the first successful American attempt to reach the top. Doody contracted thrombophlebitis and did not reach the summit. In 1965 Doody was killed by a fall on the slopes of Mount Washington in New Hampshire.</p>

  	<head>Scope and Content</head><p>The collection contains a typescript of the diary Daniel Doody maintained during the expedition to Mount Everest in 1963. Also included are two photographs of climbing, one photograph of Daniel Doody, one photograph of the American expedition members, and one photograph of Sherpas at the Doody home in Rolling Hills, Connecticut.</p>
