         <p>Arthur Whipple Crawford (1885-?) was an economist and newspaper correspondent. He was born in Sparta, Wisconsin, and educated at Beloit College and American University. He worked as a political and legislative reporter for Chicago newspapers, and later for New York newspapers. In 1934 he became research director of the American Liberty League, and the author of forty-five of its pamphlets. He became staff specialist in finance, money, and banking for the Chamber of Commerce of the United States, and subsequently for Tax Foundation, Inc.</p>

         <p>The collection includes an autobiography, published material, scrapbooks, papers on the World Peace Conference, miscellaneous writings, manuscripts, records of the American Liberty League, manuscripts on the New Deal, records of the Economists National Committee on Monetary Policy, and other miscellaneous items.</p>
         <p>The autobiography was a statement prepared as a press release in 1965.</p>
         <p>Published materials include tearsheets of thirty four articles from The Burroughs Clearing House, a pamphlet tilted "Revisions on Taxation," United States Chamber of Commerce pamphlets and tearsheets of periodicals. (1940-1946)</p>
         <p>The scrapbooks include newspaper clippings from the New York Sunday Times, Washington Star, and the New York Herald-Tribune. (1931-1950)</p>
         <p>The papers of the World Peace Conference include newspaper clippings, tearsheets,  and manuscripts of press releases. (1933)</p>
         <p>There are also miscellaneous writings including the "Currency Management in Sweden," and the "European Recovery Program."</p>
         <p>Manuscripts include "Inflationary Threats,"  "New Monetary Issues," "Taxation," "Jean Bodin and the Quantity of Theory of Money," and "Restrictions of the Courts." (1863-1947)</p>
         <p>Records of the American Liberty League incudes manuscripts by Crawford and press releases. (1934-1938)</p>
         <p>The Manuscripts of the New Deal are all written by Crawford and include "Thomas Jefferson and the New Deal," "The Barkley Keynote Speech," "Roosevelt Prevarications." (1936-1940)</p>
         <p>The records of the Economists National Committee on Monetary Policy includes press releases, mimeograph letters to members, objectives and clippings.</p>
         <p>Miscellaneous items include letters to Crawford, fragments of manuscripts, a manuscript by Jerry Voorhis, magazines, and reviews of pamphlets. </p>
