         <p>Howard B. MacDonald was born in New York City and educated at Yale University and Columbia University. He was a world traveler and ship's lecturer for the James Boring Travel Service. He became interested in the occult, did research in a form of extrasensory perception known as Radiesthesia, or the science of vibrations, and published pamphlets on the subject.</p>

         <p>The Howard B. MacDonald papers consist of lecture notes and lectures by Manley Palmer Hall, Bhagat Singh Thind, and Linda Howard Huber, and the correspondence course of R. C. Douglass's College of Divine Metaphysics, Indianapolis, Indiana. There are also extensive notes by McDonald on occult manifestations, eastern religions, and occult personalities, including Manley P. Hall, Pundit Acharya, Bertine Powers, and Albert V. Strode.</p>
