         <p>Homer Loomis Pound was born in 1856 in Wisconsin. Most notably, the father of the poet Ezra Pound, he moved to Hailey, Idaho, in 1883. While there he served as Register to Public Lands. When he was not reappointed to his position in 1887, he and his family moved back east. He died in 1942 in Italy.</p>

         <p>This collection consists of a letter written July 28, 1918 by Homer L. Pound to Clifford Smyth, editor of the New York Times Book Review, about his pleasure with the review of Ezra Pound's work "Lustra" and mentions the Sawtooth mountain range as a traveler's destination. In the letter, Pound says he is pleased the reviewer "seemed to have caught the spirit of Ezra's poetry" and refers to the Sawtooth's as "the Switzerland of America."</p>
