The Washington State Normal School Alumni Association was established on June 13, 1892, for the purpose of “extending the pleasant friendship of all the graduates of Washington State Normal School.” The original constitution of the Association declared that all members had to be graduates of the school. Faculty members of the school were granted honorary status.
The ledgers in this collection contain minutes of Washington State Normal School Alumni Association meetings from 1892 to 1897 and minutes and financial records of the Association from 1926 to 1928.
Central Washington University began as the Washington State Normal School in 1891. In 1937, the school was rechristened the Central Washington College of Education. In 1961, the school became Central Washington State College and, finally, in 1977, Central Washington University.
